Rachel Johnson
holds a Masters of Arts in Religion in Theology from Yale Divinity School,
where she graduated with honors. While
at YDS, she was an active member of the Yale Forum on Faith and Politics, a
student-led organization that routinely invited leading ministers, scholars,
political activists, and journalists from across the country to the University
to engage them on issues of religion in the public sphere. She received her B.A. from the University of
Virginia where she majored in Government and Religious Studies.
In addition
to her academic studies, Rachel has pursued her interest in religion and
politics professionally through her work with the Baptist Joint Committee for
Religious Liberty and Common Good Strategies.
In 2007 she served as CGS’s Mississippi field director, doing faith outreach
for the Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
In this capacity she contributed to campaign messaging and met with
ministers and faith-based leaders of all denominations. The daughter of two Baptist ministers, Rachel
was raised in Maryland and Virginia.
