Bio:

Rachel Johnson holds a Masters of Arts in Religion in Theology from Yale Divinity School, where she graduated with honors. While at YDS, she was an active member of the Yale Forum on Faith and Politics, a student-led organization that routinely invited leading ministers, scholars, political activists, and journalists from across the country to the University to engage them on issues of religion in the public sphere. She received her B.A. from the University of Virginia where she majored in Government and Religious Studies.

In addition to her academic studies, Rachel has pursued her interest in religion and politics professionally through her work with the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty and Common Good Strategies. In 2007 she served as CGS’s Mississippi field director, doing faith outreach for the Democratic gubernatorial candidate. In this capacity she contributed to campaign messaging and met with ministers and faith-based leaders of all denominations. The daughter of two Baptist ministers, Rachel was raised in Maryland and Virginia.
