No political party has a monopoly on the Christian community. There
are good Christians who are Republicans and good Christians who are
Democrats. God is bigger than politics.
And yet when
faith drives our lives, we seek to have God inform our politics. We
could be wrong about what God's will is. But we do our best to discern
it.
At FaithfulDemocrats.com, we believe God longs for a
politics of compassion and social justice. We believe all of God's
creation must be restored and exalted. We believe war may be taken
only as a necessity and last resort. We believe families are best
served by a society that promotes the common good, not selfishness and
materialism.
Compare these values to what we've seen
under the Bush administration and its rubber stamp Congress. Neglect
of the poor and working class. Deterioration of our environment. A
needless war with no end in sight. Legislation that gives big business
whatever it wants while middle-class families get the shaft. And, of
course, scandal after scandal; abuse after abuse; lie after lie; act of
corruption after act of corruption.
This crop of leaders
seems to be storing up its treasure on earth, not in heaven. It's hard
to imagine policies and behaviors more committed to the power of the
flesh over the power of the spirit.
That is why we're
voting Democratic today, and we hope you are too. If you're at work
and can get away, please give a couple hours to a local campaign. The
stakes are high, and the need is great.

| Luckily that is EXACTLY the type of emotion filled voting that Republican's prey upon within the Faith based community. By limiting your own education about each politicians agenda beyond pro-life/ pro-choice stance you are able to blindly vote for politicans who promote much larger evils.

| Try being alone, with no one to turn to. Ashamed, afraid, dead inside to the world. All because someone wanted power over a child.
In the midst of my doubt, God delivered me a message, God loves the children, all the children, and a lot of them are suffering.
I'm saddened at this moment that Patty Wetterling did not find her way into the House. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as these things go, it is a sign that so much work needs to be done to protect our children from the predators of the night.
Perhaps I to am preoccupied with one issue, world peace, as can only be attained through the stability of the family. |

| In response to how Jesus would vote and the comment 2/4. HWJV??? Written by aircare1 | Nov. 07, 06 17:35. I have to agree with aircare1, since I have the same conviction. I wish to respond to the following statement that was made.
3/4. Ignorance Will Remain Bliss when You Let One Issue Determine Your Vote
Is this statemenet true? To consider the abortion issue and where one stands one might consider that how one stands on this issue will affect other issues as well. If one positions themself to defend the right to murder the most innocent in our society, how can they be fit to make decisions on lesser areas of importance. Why do we protect the right to murder unborn children? It it our for convenience, our pride, our selfishness or ones right to choose? Or is it the plan of Planned parenthood to limit black population growth?. What about the father's choice. All I hear is it's a woman's choice. A choice to murder or not to murder. |

| Because we protect the right to sexual permiscuity. Now you can say that abortion leads to unsafe sexual behavior, however, it would seem more likely that in fact unchecked sexual behavior leads to Abortion, stv's, and std's.
The solution to this issue is not the standard knee-jerk reactionism so often advocated by extremists under the guise of conservatism. Lets think this through, banning abortion would require government intervention, how is this conservative? It almost smacks of socialism, what liberal "eco-terrorists" have been called by the same extremist factions calling for pro-life, and undermining the foundations of our education system in the name of home-schooling.
You want to resolve this issue, then untie the hands of our teachers. Let our schools talk to our kids about what is acceptable sexual behavior. Lets even take it a step further, and discuss seriouse issues like date rape, and create networks in which kids can report abuse, you know, like what we instituted in congress for our pages.
The solutions to these problems society faces are not one dimensional, we need to tackle them on many levels through many different orginizations. Because the bottom line is that even if we repeal Roe v Wade, that won't stop women from drunken self-injuring terminations of pregnancies. |

| Harry Truman is reported to have said "That guy doesn't know any more about politics than a pig knows about sunday." That is probably the best description of those who would suggest how HWJV. To suggest that Jesus would vote for somebody is absolutely ludicrous. What reason would he have to vote for anybody? He is the Son of God. He is the one through whom all things are created. He is the one who sustains all things by his word. Read John 1:1-18; Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:1-3. You either haven't or don't believe what you read anyway, in which case you don't really care what Jesus thinks so the question is nothing but a front.
If you care what Jesus thinks then you know that he is calling all mankind to believe in him. Peter said of and to Jesus in John 6, "Only you have the words of eternal life." He wasn't talking about Republicans or Democrats but Jesus himself. Even "Give "em @$%&!" Harry would've known that but then the "Faithful Democrats are no more Truman Democrats than Ronald Reagan was Dewey Republican.

| Ok---
Does Jesus have any ethics? Does Jesus have any Morals? any laws?.
If Jesus does then we the people have to ask ourselves if we are in His side! Then we can take political sides.
You see- Jesus talked about high morals- like " any man whom see's a woman with lust , has already committed adultery".. High morallity from 'anthropus" Himself.
Can you demo's agree that morals play a part in a Christians life? If so, then why do demos vote pro-gay & lesbian? I mean why is it?
Isn't it the point that the DNC has shifted away from religious moralilty on purpose since the late sixties? Don't you get it that this party is the reason for non-religious people to have a voice at?
the DNC has chambered anti-religous (Christian) views!!!! |
| 9/9. How would Jesus vote (He has already told us) | | Written by kushisaac | Feb. 27, 07 16:27 | |
| First off, Mouse, it is Socialism to legislate against abortion? To ban the killing of unborn children is socialism? Romans 13 tells us that Governments first role is to punish the wicked in a society, thereby protecting the innocent and helpless. It seems to me the most helpless amoung us are those in the womb, who are completely dependant upon their mother for nourishment, oxygen, warmth, protection against the elements. A government who took Romans 13 seriously would certainly protect these helpless ones in their society.
As far as how would Jesus vote, well we certainly see how Jesus would legislate. You want to know how God would govern, look at the Old Testament civil code. If you seaparate the civil code from the ceremonial law, you would get a glimpse of not the hypothetical "how would Jesus vote", but the factual how did God legislate.
Now of course, there are those who will dismiss the old testsment civil code saying that the law was abolished in Christ, however, they will need to answer what aspect of the law was abolished? The moral law? The civil law? The ceremonial law? If the moral law or civil law was abolished why do we legislate still against theft, or murder? I don't see big pushes by the antinomians to get rid of those injunctions.
So, you want to know how Jesus would vote? Read how The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit legislated their chosen nation. Perhaps we would honor God by legislating likewise. |
